About this place

장릉은 조선 16대 인조(1623~1649)의 생부인 원종과 그의 비 인헌왕후 구씨의 능이다. 장릉은 하나의 곡장 안에 봉분을 나란히 배치한 쌍릉[雙陵]의 형식으로, 앞에서 능을 바라보았을 때 왼쪽(서쪽)이 원종, 오른쪽(동쪽)이 인헌왕후의 능이다. 능의 규모와 규격은 조선 중기의 전형을 말해주고 있는 듯 하고, 능 아래는 제사를 지내는 재실이 있으며, 조선 21대 영조와 22대 정조가 매년 행차하여 제사를 모시던 건물이며, 능 주위는 공원처럼 꾸며져 있다. (출처 : 김포시 문화관광 홈페이지)
