1970년대 초 닷새마다 열리는 작은 오일장으로 시작하여 지금은 350여 개의 점포가 들어서있는 경기지역 3대 재래시장으로 불릴 만큼 유명한 광명시 대표적 재래시장이다. 재래시장 현대화 사업을 통해 시장 전체가 리모델링을 해서 쇼핑 환경이 대형마트 부럽지 않게 쾌적하게 바뀌어 쇼핑하기 편리한 재래시장이다.
