About this place
여의천은 서초구 신원동 청계산에서 발원하여 양재천으로 합류하는 지방하천이다. 한강수계에 속하는 지방 2급 하천으로서 양재천의 제1지류이다. 여의천의 옛 지명은 ‘염곡천’이었으며, 이 지역에서 살던 주민들이 ‘안개가 자주 끼는 하천’이라 하여 ‘연내천’이라고도 불렀다. 하천연장 4.85㎞, 유로연장은 6.87㎞, 유역면적은 12.98㎢이다. 여의천은 숨은 벚꽃 명소 중 하나이다. 봄이 되면 여의천 옆 길을 따라 식재된 벚나무들이 분홍빛으로 물이 든다. 만개할 시기가 되면 사진 찍는 사람들과 산책하는 사람들로 붐빈다.
