오목 호수 공원에는 다양한 동식물들이 서식하고 있다. 습지나 호수, 연못의 대표적인 수생식물인 갈대를 비롯하여 부들, 꽃창포, 물억새, 갯버들, 검정말, 개구리밥 등 다양한 수생식물이 살아가고 있다. 또한 생물의 서식지를 제공하여 생물의 다양성을 증진하는 것은 물론 자연 생태계의 생물들을 관찰하고 체험할 수 있는 장소이다. 다양한 수생식물과 곤충들의 집을 마련하여 시민들에게 환경을 중요성을 일깨워주는 한편, 건강한 생태 공간과 휴식처를 제공한다.
