About this place
1930년대 초 서대문구 북아현동의 굴레방다리를 중심으로 형성된 좌판들이 1960년대 아현천변 공터로 자리를 옮기면서 현재 시장의 모습을 갖추었다. 전형적인 주거 지역에 있어 2000년대 초반까지 활황이었지만, 현재는 아현 뉴타운 재개발 사업으로 인해 시장 규모가 많이 축소되었다. TV 프로그램 <생활의 달인>에 소개된 만둣집이 유명하다.
