쇼핑과 문화의 중심인 용산역 주변으로 고층 빌딩이 들어서면서 건물 사이로 디자인이 개선되고 소규모 광장이 많이 생겼다. 용산구는 용산역 전면에 대규모 광장을 조성하고 있는데 지상공원과 지하광장 등이 연결될 예정이다. 현재 용산공원과 용산역 광장을 연결하는 ‘버들개 문화공원’이 부분개장 되었다.
